Germany's steel industry experienced a significant boost in September, with crude steel output increasing by 4.3 percent year-on-year to 2.99 million metric tons (mt). This marks the third consecutive month of growth for the German steel sector.
For the January-September period, crude steel production in Germany rose by 4.0 percent to 28.36 million mt. This positive trend reflects the resilience of the German steel industry despite ongoing economic challenges.
While pig iron production declined by 5.0 percent to 1.82 million mt in September, it remained stable for the first nine months of the year, increasing by 1.6 percent to 18.37 million mt.
The country's hot rolled steel output also experienced strong growth, rising by 7.9 percent to 2.58 million mt in September and by 3.2 percent to 24.25 million mt for the January-September period.
The German Steel Federation (WV Stahl) attributed the increase in steel production to a combination of factors, including stronger domestic demand and increased exports.
