German plantmaker SMS Group has successfully modernized the rotary hearth furnace and heat treatment line at Artrom Steel Tubes' Slatina pipe mill in Romania.
The rotary hearth furnace, which has been in operation since 1990, has received significant upgrades from SMS Group. The company has supplied new burners, automation systems, and a completely modernized combustion system.
These modernization efforts have resulted in a substantial reduction of natural gas consumption and carbon emissions at the Slatina mill. The mill's carbon footprint has been reduced by more than 45 percent.
Following the completion of the modernization works, the Slatina pipe mill was successfully restarted. The upgraded rotary hearth furnace is now operating efficiently and sustainably, contributing to Artrom Steel Tubes' overall environmental performance.
