Tosyalı Algerie, a subsidiary of Turkish steel giant Tosyalı Holding, has initiated its first-ever exports of hot-rolled coil (HRC), sending shipments to Tunisia, Spain, and Italy, the company announced via social media. This milestone marks the Algerian steelmaker’s entry into the international HRC market, leveraging its newly commissioned production capabilities.
“With our high production capacity and green steel production capabilities, we continue to meet the needs of the domestic market while strengthening our position in international trade,” Tosyalı Algerie stated, highlighting its dual focus on local demand and global outreach. The company’s emphasis on environmentally friendly steel production aligns with its advanced technological investments.
While Tosyalı Holding operates pipe manufacturing facilities in Spain, it remains unclear whether the Spanish shipment was an intra-company transaction. Details of the export volumes to Tunisia and Spain were not disclosed. However, media reports citing Ezzi Ramzi, Tosyalı Algerie’s director of foreign trade, indicate that the Italian shipment comprised 30,000 tonnes of HRC, valued at $16 million. This translates to an estimated price of $533 per tonne, according to Kallanish’s calculations.
The exports follow the commissioning of Tosyalı Algerie’s HRC production line last autumn, building on the start of slab production in May and the first slab export in August. With these developments, the company is positioning itself as a key player in the Mediterranean and European steel markets, capitalizing on its strategic location and growing capacity.
